Let’s take a break from potty training for today and concentrate on YOU, theparent of a preschooler.

How are you doing in your role as a parent? Do you feel totally in your element, or do you feel a bit overwhelmed? Are you feeling absolutely satisfied, or perhaps rather bored and unchallenged? Is there pep in your step, or do you actually need to recharge your adult batteries?

As a parent of a preschooler, I know I have felt all of those things at one point or another. I have basically been a stay-at-home mom for 11 years (my oldest daughter is in 6th grade). When our first daughter entered the world, I made the choice that I needed to be home for my kids.

Hence I have been a momprenuer, growing businesses from home while raising a family! However Being home all the time can get mundane. It can be exhausting and mind-numbing at times. The days all roll into each other, and before you know it, you’ve got a middle schooler!

Like many mothers and fathers, my life revolves around my children. Driving carpool. Going to dance. Playdates, birthday parties, and the neighborhood park. I must consciously decide that I’ll take time for myself to recharge my batteries. To chill. I have to discover ways to challenge myself and permit my creativity to flow.

That’s why I’ve started businesses that make me satisfied! My businesses let me play amongst other adults! It’s actually about making harmony between all the roles you play, and never losing who you are as an individual.

Hence if you're feeling unchallenged, uncreative, exhausted, and overwhelmed, do something for yourself SOON! Re-light a hobby. Pick up a new sport. Go on a date with your partner. Begin building that business you’ve been considering for years (you can do this from home, while being there for your children).

And, when you startpotty training, it’s critical that you come up for air! Potty training is intense, especially when you make it your life for a couple of days. So , after you’ve completed 1 or 2 days of potty training, leave the house, ALONE! No children. This is your time to recharge. I give you ‘the ok’ to do so!
